exactEarth Ltd. is at the forefront of revolutionary AIS monitoring technology.  AIS (Automatic Identification System) is a vessel-based, VHF (Very High Frequency) transmitter broadcasting useful ship information including call sign, type, GPS position, and name. The International Maritime Organisation (IMO), through international regulation, has several objectives in the widespread implementation of AIS: Improve safety and efficiency of navigation, safety of life at sea, and environmental protection. AIS transmitters are to be included on all vessels of 300-500 gross tonnes (based on destination) and all passenger ships irrespective of size. At its core, AIS is the marine answer to "what is that ship doing"?  It is estimated that over 70,000 ships worldwide are equipped with AIS transmitters.

The information on this site is dedicated to providing valuable information on AIS, and how exactEarth can enhance this technology and provide a depth and breadth of knowledge far beyond the capabilities of land-based AIS receivers, and other technologies currently on the market.
